2021 was an incredible year for us.

Recently Paola asked, “will we ever have another year like this?”  The answer of course is “no, we won’t”.  What made it so special?

·       We added two new wines to our line up: Ilta and Suven Taika.

·       More people discovered us and our wines.  We set new records for wine we provided to restaurants, to Alko and to people who visited us at the winery.

·       We got a tremendous amount of publicity.  Articles about us appeared in newspapers across Finland, in top magazines like Gloria Ruoka & Viini and Wine Enthusiast in the US as well as in blogs and innumerable social media posts from fans of our wines.

·       Our wines themselves got an unprecedented level of recognition.  Vaapukka was given a 5-star review in HS and its second gold medal at the Vinalies Internationales in France.  Suven Taika became the first wine made without grapes to receive a gold medal at the Mondial du Rosé competition in France.  Aho also got a gold medal at Mondial du Rosé and was awarded a score so high that it came in second overall in the sweet rosé category.  And then there was Sametti.  The 2019 vintage received gold medals in 2021 at the Concours Lyon, Vinalies Internationales and Meininger’s ISW.  A hat trick for what may be the best wine we have ever made.

·       Between hosting visitors, making wine and managing orders we were kept very busy.  Just two years after getting our production space set up so we had the ability to expand operations, we are running at full capacity.

All of which begs the question: what’s next?  Or as Paola said: “will we ever have another year like this one?”  No, we won’t but we have some ideas, and we will work hard to make 2022 even better.  With continued help and encouragement from friends, family and fans of world-class Finnish wine, we know we can do it.  We look forward to the challenge.  Cheers!
